History of the West Coast Swing Club of Tampa Bay...

About 5 years ago a small group of dancers decided to break away from the local bop club and find a place to dance... Headed at the time by Lisa Posey, she went out and found a place for us to dance, JR's Dance Club... Shortly after this I became involved with the DJ duties... Lisa left the area and I pretty much took over the responsibilities of the group... I then designed a web site and formed a club in spirit to give our group an identity... Thus the West Coast Swing Club of Tampa Bay was born... At first we had Barbara Pecan sending out a news letter informing every one of the group’s activities and what was happening on the national scene as well... Later on Renee Lipman took over the duties of the newsletter and that is where we stand now... We started with about 18 people and now we are approaching 700 people in our group’s data base... Maybe we are not a legal club in the sense of having a document to say so, but in spirit's we have always maintained our identity... There are several people that have worked very hard from the conception of this and I do give credit where credit is due… Lisa Posey, Barbara Pecan, Rebecca Dewhirst, Art & Carolynine Johnson, Jim & Sandy Scott, John Henning, Terri Dluhy and myself… This should answer some of your question about the West Coast Swing Club of Tampa Bay and how it all came about...
